 The Kadayawan Festival Schedule of Activities was gathered from All About Davao

DAYAW DABAW STREET MARKET
Event Date: August 12, 2011 until August 21, 2011
Event Time: 08:00am to 11:000pm
Venue: Palma Gil Street
Description: This 10-day street market will showcase the bounties of Davao which is the central reason of thanksgiving during this Kadayawan Festival. It will showcase our fruit growers and Davao’s best products. Entertainment and food concessionaires will also be available for shoppers.


KADAYAWAN OPENING
Event Date: August 15, 2011
Event Time: 05:00pm to 09:00pm
Venue: People’s Park
Description: The festival will open with an ecumenical thanksgiving service for the year of blessing and bounty. To start off the celebration, the color and culture of the father tribes of Davao will be showcased through music and dance.

HUDYAKAAN

Description: Street food with nightly entertainment This is a week-long food street that provides nightly entertainment through local and nationally renowned bands.

SAYAW MINDANAW
Event Date: August 16, 2011 until August 18, 2011
Event Time: 09:00am to 10:00am
Venue: SM City Davao
Description: Mindanao Dance Competition This is a competition of Mindanao myths, legends and folklores transformed into dance narratives by Mindanao-based dance groups. Outstanding dance critiques and choreographers will interact with the Mindanao choreographers during dance evaluation and citation.

Lumadnong Bantawan: Indigenous Peoples Performance Showcase
Event Date: August 16, 2011 until August 21, 2011
Event Time: 04:00pm to 07:00pm
Venue: People’s Park
Description: Performance showcases of dance, songs and other ceremonies fit for public performances of the 10 focused Davao tribes namely-Ata Manobo, Bagobo Tagabawa, Ubo Manobo, K’lata, Matigsalog, Maranao, Maguindanao, Tausug, Sama and the Kalagans. Craft making will also be showcased as these and crops from each tribe will also be available for sale.

Lumadnong Gama: Indigenous Peoples Crops and Crafts Trade Fair

Description: Grand quest for the festival gem of Davao Hiyas sa Kadayawan is the search for the indigenous young lass who, up until the present is knowledgeable of her indigenous culture and wisdom through a pageantry of Mindanaoan myths and legends. Ten young women from the respective distinguished tribes of Davao will be presented in their indigenous garbs, cultural performance, interview and indigenous attire.

 

HIYAS SA KADAYAWAN: Grand Coronation Night

Venue: Davao City Recreation Center
Description: Grand quest for the festival gem of Davao Hiyas sa Kadayawan is the search for the indigenous young lass who, up until the present is knowledgeable of her indigenous culture and wisdom through a pageantry of Mindanaoan myths and legends. Ten young women from the respective distinguished tribes of Davao will be presented in their indigenous garbs, cultural performance, interview and indigenous attire.

Description: The Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan will showcase the diverse festivals of Mindanao through street dancing. Dance contingents from the different regiions of Mindanao will feature their own festivals as part of Kadayawan’s mission of promoting the other festivals of the island, thus festival of festivals.

TUNOG MINDANAW

Venue: Abreeza Mall of Davao
Description: Music Festival Mindanaoan composers and songwriters will come together to showcase their popular yet indigenous motivated music compositions bringing forward this genre not as the alternative but the mainstream music in Mindanao.

PAMULAK KADAYAWAN
Event Date: August 21, 2011
Event Time: 09:00am to 05:00pm
Venue: Magsaysay Ave. to Rizal Park
Description: The grand finale of the Kadayawan sa Dabaw Festival, the showcase of the blooming of flowers and ripening of fruits in a floral float parade and competition. Two categories excite both the interested float artists and audiences-Open and Alternative Categories teeming with artistry and glory as the floats impress Davao’s blessings of bounty considered to be one of Asia’s Most Livable Cities.

MODA MINDANAW

Venue: SM City Davao
Description: Fashion and Floral Design Competition Mindanao fashion designers will compete in a fashion design extravaganza of indigenous-inspired wearable for men and women and avant garde for women utilizing Mindanaoan fabrics and organic fibers. Floral accessories and bouquets are also featured to display the creations of Davao Floral Artists.

  • Agro-Industrial Trade Fair and Exhibit from August 1 to 31 at the SM City Davao; Kadayawan 2011 Calendar of events: (This is just the over all event and details of the main and side events will follow)
  • Kadayawan Festival 2011 opening is on August 15 at People’s Park;
  • Lumadnong Bantawan and Lumadnong Gama on August 15- 20; and
  • Hudyakaan on August 15-22 along Roxas Avenue.
  • The “Sayaw Mindanao” — a Mindanao dance competition that depicts Mindanao Indigenous-inspired dance will be held at SM City Davao on August 16-18.
  • The Hiyas ng Kadayawan talent portion will be on August 16 at the Abreeza Mall Activity Center.
  • Hiyas ng Kadayawan finals will be on August 17 at the Davao City Recreational Center.
  • On August 21 Moda Mindanao will showcase different tribal costumes at SM City Davao.
  • On August 20, the Indak-indak sa Kadalanan — a festive choreographed and theatrical street dance — will commence while Tunog Mindanaw will be held at the Abreeza Mall activity center.
  • The floral float parade or the “Pamulak sa Kadayawan” will be on the August 21.
